Description
Since epidemiological week (EW) 1 to EW 5 of 2017, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, and the Plurinational State of Bolivia, have reported yellow fever cases. Colombia and Peru have reported probable cases, one and three respectively; the Plurinational State of Bolivia reported a case under investigation while Brazil has reported confirmed and suspected cases under investigation.
Desde la semana epidemiológica (SE) 1 y hasta la SE 5 de 2017, Colombia, el Estado Plurinacional de Bolivia, Brasil y Perú han notificado casos de fiebre amarilla. Colombia y Perú han notificado casos probables, uno y tres casos respectivamente; el Estado Plurinacional de Bolivia notificó un caso en investigación, mientras que Brasil notificó casos confirmados y sospechosos que están en investigación.

The following is a situation summary in Brazil. In Brazil, since the beginning of the outbreak in December 2016 to EW 6 of 2017, there were 1,336 cases of yellow fever reported (292 confirmed, 124 discarded, and 920 suspected cases remain under investigation), including 215 deaths (101 confirmed, 5 discarded, and 109 under investigation). In Brazil, since the beginning of the outbreak in December 2016 to EW 7 of 2017, there were 1,368 cases of yellow fever reported (326 confirmed, 125 discarded, and 916 suspected cases remain under investigation), including 220 deaths (109 confirmed, 6 discarded, and 105 under investigation). The case fatality rate (CFR) is 33% among confirmed cases and 12% among suspected cases.Item Epidemiological Update, Yellow Fever (2 February 2017)(PAHO, 2017)In 2017, as of 2 February yellow fever cases have been confirmed in Brazil, whereas Colombia and Peru have only reported probable cases. In Brazil, between 1 December 2016 and 2 February 2017, 901 cases of yellow fever were reported (151 confirmed, 42 discarded, and 708 suspected cases remain under investigation), including 143 deaths (54 confirmed, 3 discarded, and 86 under investigation). The overall casefatality rate (CFR) is 16%, with 36% CFR among confirmed cases and 12% CFR among suspected cases.
